How our unique craftsmanship and know-how makes us different.

For more than 12 years, Couleur Chanvre has been manufacturing exceptional household linen. We are known worldwide for the quality of our textiles and for our special in-house dying process, which excludes all toxic primers, allergenic substances and other irritants.

We feel the purity of our dyeing process is of upmost importance and makes us totally unique to the market worldwide. Whether it’s hemp, flax or cotton, all Couleur Chanvre linen meets the same superior standard of production.

We use the softest, highest quality fibres

We create our products using fabrics made from the finest fibres - long fibres for hemp and flax, long strands for cotton – fibres that are all processed in France. This in itself is extraordinary as much of the flax grown in France is actually sent offshore for processing. We are adamant that it is important to support and maintain the little processing that still remains in France and so only work with French processors. Our flax comes from the “Terre de Lin” cooperative in Normandy, which cultivates, de-fibres and combs the flax.

Couleur Chanvre linens are a genuine French creation

Weaving, sewing, dyeing and finishing – our whole production process takes place in France. Dyeing and finishing is completed in-house in our workshop in St Jean de Luz, Biarritz.

We use a exclusive allergen-free manufacturing process

We have developed our own special dyeing and finishing method that uses GOTS 3.0 certified dyes and excludes irritating primers commonly found in the textile industry.

Our ultra-natural dyeing process creates hypoallergenic linen. This is particularly significant for our bed-linen as most people spend a third of their lifetime in bed, with their skin, airways and mucous membranes in direct contact with their bedcovers. Indeed, Couleur Chanvre linens are especially helpful for those who commonly suffer from allergic reactions.

Every day we are educating our customers about the important health and comfort benefits of our dying process. Many other labels and certifications still allow the use of toxic and allergenic products in their production but we do not. It also goes without saying that our dyeing and finishing process is absolutely eco-friendly. In addition, we recycle and save as much water and energy as possible.

Our linens are easy to maintain

Couleur Chanvre linen can be washed at hot temperatures (60 °C); it does not shrink and it is perfectly colourfast. A dryer can also be used when necessary without any problem.

Ironing is not essential because the long fibres in our linens help them keep their shape after washing.

Our COULEUR CHANVRE linen is unique, timeless, sustainable and elegantly simple.
